Mumbai: Akshay Kumar starrer and Twinkle Khanna-produced film 'Paddman' was released in theaters on February 9th. The film is being liked very much in the country and the world. Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor starrer 'Padman' is based on the topic of cleanliness during the menstrual cycle in rural areas. At such times when efforts are being made to eliminate misconceptions related to the menstrual cycle, the Maharashtra government is launching 'Asmita Yojana' for providing sanitary napkins at girls and rural women in the state at cheap rates. The scheme for providing sanitary napkins at cheap rates will start from March 8 on the occasion of International Women's Day next month.


Under this scheme, girl students of Zilla Parishad schools will get sanitary napkins at 5 rupees per packet whereas women in rural areas will be available at the rate of 24 and 29 rupees per packet. An official of the Rural Development Ministry said that this scheme will be formally launched on March 8 for women and rural women. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and actor Akshay Kumar will launch the scheme. Akshay recently unveiled the sanitary napkin machine at Mumbai's CST station.
